Growing up backstage at my Dad's gigs, I heard a lot of different styles of music. The two things that I got seriously hooked on were the grooves and the storytelling. Whether I was rocking out to The Satellites as an unabashed preteen at the Bamboo on Queen St or sitting in Hamilton's Gage Park mesmerized by Willie P. Bennett, I was hooked and always will be. This odd mix of Canadian roots music and funky grooves has found it’s own voice on this little record. An homage to where I come from...I didn't want to record in a conventional studio, watching the clock. So after much searching, we found the second floor of an old, factory\u002Floft space in Toronto on Shuter Street. Big windows, good vibes and understanding neighbours... perfect. Andre and I amassed and jury rigged our gear together and got to work. With my good friends Daniel Stadnicki on drums and Ian De Souza on bass, we laid down the bed tracks. Eventually, many more friends (all a part of my musical evolution) joined us to do some overdubs. I let it ferment for a year then re-tweaked things ‘til it felt right. I was ready to release and then due to reasons beyond my control, I had to let it ferment for another 2 years... But here it is now and I hope you like it as much as I still do.1.
