Five years of piano lessons, a series of soirées with an acoustic guitar, and a great deal of quality time spent with her pen and notebook until the early hours of the morning drew out of Darien Clea an inexorable desire to make music. Songwriting is not merely an outlet or pastime for this young visionary, but her primary means of conversation. Nearly a decade of consistent creative writing, studying, and performing has refined Darien Clea's musicianship into a mature giftedness. An interest in music that was sparked during her childhood in small-town Oklahoma eventually led her to Memphis, Tennessee to study Songwriting and Audio Production at Visible Music College. It was in Memphis that she met renown producer Dennis Herring and began to share song demos with him over the next couple years. After Clea finished school, Herring invited her to record an EP at his studio in Oxford, Mississippi. What evolved out of their collaboration at Sweet Tea Studio is an album that has as much sentiment as it has moxie.
