It took more than 4 years for this band to strive back after their Retoure-cd released in 2004. Christian Grass and Robert Helms (also active in Concise) have literally reinvented the sound of High Wycombe. There's less comparison with the Retoure-album. It becomes quite impossible to compare this band to any other one, but we can for sure mention Haujobb for the complexity plus intelligence in sound and Plastic Noise Experience for some dark atmospheres. High Wycombe have add a kind of space-astral touch to this basis while using some slow breakbeat rhythmic to make it all quite danceable. The opening piece coungan?is an absolute attention grabber. The rhythmic is impressive and dynamic while an excellent effect has been added to the top of the vocals. There's a kind of Eastern atmosphere running through this piece as well. The next pieces coming up are more into astral-atmospheres and slower rhythmic, but remain efficient. A next high light is Polaroids, which brings us back to a heavier cadence merged with cold atmospheres and a great robotic effect on the vocals. name?is a song that especially reminds me of some work of PNE. High Wycombe evolved towards a real progressive form of electronics and even if the scene is more hungry for cliches, this album is a must have for all open-minded electronic lovers. We also get 2 remixes at the end of the ride. The remix of Room 101 by Flaque is a pure jewel in icy lounge music with some rhythm on top. The other remix were done by Xdynamics, which transformed the Cube-song into a heavier version with an extra psychedelic flavour on top. A noticeable album for the beginning of this year! Helljoy it and buy it for Devil's sake!
