Pharaohs – previously under the guise HPR (Small Town Records\u002F BSM Records) – play a brand of technical indie with melodic pop choruses in a similar vein to bands such as Foals and Wintermute. Spending the beginning of 2009 at Coach Road Studios (I Was A Cut Scout, Klaus Says Buy The Record), the band crafted the 7 track MCD'We've Tried Nothing And We're All Out Of Ideas' – with the 3 track, download only single of 'Squashed Against My Wall' as a precursor to this. The aforementioned track received a lot of radio airplay, being Radio One's Steve Lamarqc's track of the week. When vocalist\u002Fguitarist Jake left HPR a little under a year ago,the future of the band was left hanging in the balance. However, the remaining three members would not give up so easily. Changing their name to 'Pharaohs' and finding a new guitarist, they ditched the distorted cacophony of past releases and concentrated on a more melodic style whilst retaining the complex guitar-work that aided their establishment in the UK music scene.
