Founded in 1943 by Syd Nathan, who it's said changed American music and, in turn, changed the world, King Records was one of the major early pace-setters in the R&B field. In 1962, the year this compilation is focused on, we see the giants of rhythm and blues, James Brown, Hank Ballard and Little Willie John chalk up innumerable R&B-chart entries on King. As well as this we have lesser known acts such as Otis Williams who supplies our title track.
