Henning Pertiet (piano) and Michael Maass (drums) today belong to the leading interpreters of Boogie Woogie musicians. Brought together by Axel Zwingenberger in 1996 they have played some hundred concerts all over europe. (Axel once said: Henning sure has more Blues in one finger than other musicians in the whole hand) With the line - up of piano & drums, which has an old tradition in classical Blues and Boogie, the two of them have been touring jazz clubs, theatres, cultural centers and festivals in Germany and Europe for years and with enormous success. Micha Maass, born near Berlin, Germany, discovered a liking for the drums in his early youth. Since then he has been exploring the numerous facets of this instrument intensively. He has been on tour with many of the greatest Blues and Boogie musicians - to name a few would be: Axel Zwingenberger, Vince Weber, Little Littlefield, Abi Wallenstein, Steve 'Big Man' Clayton and many others. Henning Pertiet, who was born in 1965 in Hamburg is today one of the most expressive Blues and Boogie Woogie-Pianists in Europe. By recommendation of Axel Zwingenberger Henning joined the Mojo Blues Band (Vienna, Austria) from 1993 to late 1996. It is one of the best and most well known authentic blues bands of Europe - maybe the world... Henning today tells stories with his music that nobody else is able to tell in the same way. His music is expressive in a way that can not be imitated: not searching for effects and without any needless acrobatics. The audience rather experiences an authentic presentation of old blues and boogie classics as well as many personal compositions that are strongly influenced by Hennings personality and which capture anybody who allows to be taken away into the world of blues and boogie. Henning Pertiet & Michael Maass have recorded the concert released on this record in 1998 in a small club near Bremen (Cafe Eigenart, Visselhoevede) - which is the perfect size for performing their music to an audience that really loves their music. You can always hear the people applauding after songs but never destroying the music itself. A real live-experience!
