Shawn Sparks a/k/a Sparkingtin, born and raised in Harlem, NYC, is the jolt the Hip Hop culture has been looking for. Sparkingtin's music will surely provide the essence of the culture as well as up lift the community to make it safer for the kids... He fights for the cause but in regards to the music, his style is the result of a lifetime of musical influences that range from the early days of Hip-Hop to the veterans of RnB. His parents exposed him to a wealth of music as a child, all of which influenced his development, but it was Hip-Hop that had his heart. Growing up in the streets of Harlem always meant he was around the Hip-Hop culture. His first foray with the culture was when he experienced his aunt Goldie (R.I.P.) perform her songs and host her own television show which broke the Rob Base *It Takes Two* record as well as the super performances from Salt N Pepa and the Boogie Down Productions crew with DJ Scott La Rock (R.I.P.). That sparked a fire in him to know this is the what he will be doing and he never looked back... Sparks began his journey in Promotions, A&R, Artists Management, then went to Legal Administration and Copyright & Licensing, which later led him to the creative side of Producing & Writing. Needless to say, Sparkingtin is a music lover. It was there where he felt he can succeed in the game after getting schooled on the business side, all of which have had a profound influence on the direction his musical journey has taken. After enough studying on the business side it was time to make the music. He began to hone his craft by listening to the influences that are named later. His catalog of heat began to set the studio on fire. He was quickly noted for the blended styles that he brought to the Hip-Hop scene. His talent with a variety of styles only added to his appeal, and his unique voice with a twist started to find an appreciative audience... His musical ambitions continued to grow, aided by the sounds of of the world that he found all around him through out his travels. Although Hip-Hop music is where Spark’s roots lie, that is not to say that he finds himself restricted to this genre. In fact his influences are vast, which his CD collection demonstrates, providing literally a room full of music from every corner of the globe. He is keen to point out that everything he listens to directs his musical development in some way. However, he would certainly include Bloodshed, Killa Cam, B.I.G., The Lox, Run-DMC, Slick Rick, Kool G Rap, Rakim & KRS-One as his biggest influences... Check out Sparkingtin on Twitter... YouTube... Google... Reverbnation... & Myspace for further information on his where abouts and new music. Be sure to stay tuned in. Sparkingtin is taking flight...
