Jesse Taitt, a 21 year old Jazz pianist/composer is relatively young in the music world. He started his music career at the age of 14, and attended the Boston Arts Academy. While there, Jesse began to discover and refine his musical voice.
Studying Classical music under Boston Conservatory Professor Harriet Lundberg, he developed his sensitivity for the instrument. While attending Boston Arts Academy, he studied Jazz with Hey Rim Jeon via the Berklee City Music Program.
Through both schools, Jesse played and attended master classes with Phillip Bailey, Seymour Bernstein, Dr. Billy Taylor, Regina Carter, George Duke, George Russell Jr., Walter Beasley,Doug Johnson, Laszlo Gardony, Joanne Brackeen, Patrice Rushen, Geri Allen, Lin Biviano, Gavin Degraw, Hugh Masakela, Michael Tucker and Andre Ward.
He has also performed at various venues in Boston including Ryles, Bob’s Southern Bistro, Beehive, Boston Conservatory’s Seully Hall and the Berklee Performance Center. He was pianist the in All State Vocal Jazz Group, 2008, which was the opening act for Syncopations at Ryles Jazz Club. Leader of Jazz septet, Entourage, won Gold in the IAJE Jazz Competition 2007. He volunteers his time as a Mentor for the Berklee Mentoring Program and a private instructor in the Berklee City Music Preparatory Program. He is an active member of the Berklee City Music All-Star ensemble. His music was aired on WGBH 89.7 promoting the Berklee High School Jazz Festival of 2008.
After receiving scholarship offers from The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music and Berklee College of Music, he chose Berklee. He is an active pianist at Empowerment Christian Church in Boston and also currently the music director for Boston based group Jazz Urbane that is led/produced by Berklee Faculty, William Banfield. Jesse is pursing a dual degree in Jazz Composition and Professional Music with Minor in Global Studies. He plans to pursue a career in composing, arranging, and performing original music
