Nashville and the music business can be a little bit intimidating at times. But it’s not stopping country music’s newest breakout, Colby Dee, and that’s apparent through the message in her latest single, “I Will Fight On.”
The talented country singer/songwriter, who made the bold move to Nashville in April of 2011, is in full time pursuit of her music dreams and riding an incredible wave of success with the inspirational hit, “I Will Fight On.” The song has been described by fans as a ‘cancer fighter’s battle cry’ and provides a message of strength and empowerment over the disease. Written specifically for her friend battling breast cancer, Joni Moore Kanazawa, the song is extremely personal for Colby Dee, the 20-year-old Georgia newcomer.
“I hope this song really resonates with people. It speaks directly to the disease, and says that it cannot take the most precious things in life from those battling it,” said Colby Dee. “When you meet Joni, you cannot help but be inspired by her. I wanted to do something to help offset her mounting medical expenses and hope that others join in to help fight the cause.”
Since coming to Nashville, Colby Dee hasn’t wasted any time developing strong songwriting skills, collaborating with some top-notch songwriters in town and giving refreshing and inspirational performances. Most recently, Colby Dee was honored to give an exclusive performance of “I Will Fight On” during the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure flagship event in Washington, D.C. Colby Dee sang the song for over 50,000 onlookers in front of the iconic Washington Monument. “It was so wonderful having Colby Dee join us at this year’s Global Race for the Cure,” said Nancy Brinker, founder and CEO of Susan G. Komen. “You could feel the empowerment that Race participants drew from the feeling she put into her song, ‘I Will Fight On.’”
Next up was Colby Dee’s riveting performance at the GAC stage during the 2012 CMA Fest. Her show helped to kick off the 2nd Annual Music City Gives Back Charity concert, benefiting the American Red Cross.
