Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Dewain is a self-taught songwriter who got his chops singing in the church choir growing up and counts a wide variety of musical influences ranging from Hall & Oats, Billy Joel and Ambrosia to Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson and Journey. “My goal as a songwriter is to make music that out-lasts me,” says Dewain with a big smile, “timeless music.” He started collaborating with producer Brian Kennedy in 2004, which led to him moving out to Los Angeles full time in 2009. Hes spent a lot of time working in Nashville in 2010, which he loved. Notable song collaborations include Chris Brown, Faith Hill, Nick Jonas, Jordin Sparks, Young Jeezy, & Jacob Lattimore
