Susanne Schimmack is an American-trained mezzo-soprano of German birth who began her career in the last years of the twentieth century. She won a scholarship from the Orange Country (California) Philharmonic Society to study at the University of California and went on to take master classes from Christa Ludwig, Itleana Cotrubas, and Jane Henschel. She made her debut as Rossweise (one of the eight Valkyries) in Wagner's "Die Walküre" at the Arizona Opera in 1994.
