Quinteto Armorial were a seventies group originally formed in Recife Brazil whose music interpreted pre-modern folk sounds and delivered them as original works in a romantic, chamber-like style. The band's sound was almost exclusively instrumental and featured traditional Brazilian instrumentation.
While the group disbanded in 1980 most of them remained active in the Brazilian music scene. Founding member Antônio José Madureira reformed a group dedicated to the Armorial style of music in the nineties under the name Quarteto Romançal.
