THE DEMO IS FINISHED!!!
The moment we've been building towards for the last few months is finally here. Check us out, email us for a copy of the demo, come see us play, and stay disgusting for us.
We are Scalpel, a five piece death metal band hailing from different areas of Massachusetts. Drawing influence from hundreds of various death metal, black metal, and grindcore acts, we aim to play the music that we love, as well as create a unique sound in the footsteps of our mentors.
Scalpel began in mid 2008, after the disbanding of Greg and Taylor's previous band, Morturion. It started out as nothing but a two-man studio project, the original intention being to play raw as f**k, dirty, disgusting old school death metal. As time passed, and Taylor reunited with old friend Manny Egbert at the Berkelee Summer Guitar Sessions, the decision was made to recruit Manny and begin making this thing serious. With the new addition, we began writing immediately. We began the search for drummers and bass players, and although the first few weeks were unsuccessful, we eventually came across Matt Closter. After a few practices, his incredible ability to learn quickly and ridiculous progressive drumming techniques proved that he was indeed the man for the job. We needed one more place to fill and that was bass. We had heard Evan's one-man project, Scaphism, and were blown away. So naturally, we asked him to join. He showed up to the first practice knowing two of the three songs, and he was immediately accepted as a member. Now, as a full band, we intend to break as many barriers in music as we possibly can, as well as show the world that death metal is here to stay. Come to our shows, listen to our ****, learn the words and love the tunes. Help spread the word and we will keep giving all you sick bastards something to feel nauseous to.
