Avathar was born in the beginning the 21st century. Founded by Witch King and Scatha, the band would remain a two-piece until year 2005. Witch_king was in charge of guitars, bass, vocals, synths and drum programmong while Scatha performed Synths and backing vocals. After a few years of work and strife to gain their own sound Avathar released two full length albums through Lifeless Productions in USA. 
Summer of the year 2005 marked a change in the band's future aims, as Witch King was eager to recruit more players in order to make Avathar a live band. Shortly after Dain, Daeron, Thalion and Emerwen joined the band. The same year Avathar released a new warm-up demo entitled "A storm coming" that included the new musicians in action. In 2006 Witch King decided to pass on his bassplaying duties to Bolg, another new member recruited. This way Witch King could fully concentrate on his vocal delivery. Avathar released the demo "Where wicked winds blow" in June 2006. By the end of the year Thalion decided he no longer had the needed time or dedication which Avathar required because of his other band projects, and stepped down. Shortly after Daeron picked up the drumming duties and Avathar recruited a new guitarist, Dragon hunter, to fill in for Daeron on his lead guitar duties. Also a second vocalist, Finduilas, that had appeared on previous demos, joined the band to perform female vocals. Avathar released one more demo with Thalion on drums and Daeron on guitars named"Beyond the spheres of a mortal world" in 2007. 
In the beginning of the year 2008 Avathar released yet another demo called "To the halls of await" this demo marked a change in Avathar's sound. The sound of Avathar showcased a progression of maturity as the songs seemed more concentrated and the production being clear and powerful. The line-up changes and experience gained from previous work had enhanced Avathar's sound and songwriting(still courtesy of Witch King and Scatha). "To the halls of await" received praises by the selected few reviewers it was sent to. Avathar also performed a slightly larger gig warming the stage for Battlelore and Bal-Sagoth. There is certainly more to come.
