Named after a late 19th century magic trick by the Davenport brothers, Davenport Cabinet was created by Travis Stever in 2007 as a solo venture outside of playing guitar for Coheed and Cambria. Since then, it has become much more. In 2008 the full length LP "Nostalgia in Stereo" (Equal Vision Records) was released to many positive and exciting reviews. It was a very loose and raw album with hints of music to come.
 
In those developing years, Davenport Cabinet was, more or less, a lone venture, aside from Rory Hohenberger sitting in on drums from time to time. In 2009 Stever began writing for a new record and brought in his cousin, Tyler Klose, who is a singer-songwriter and highly proficient guitar player. Klose was part of a Sussex County, NJ band called Breathing Walls and as a solo act had opened for well known acts like Railroad Earth. In January, 2013 Davenport Cabinet released the full length LP "Our Machine" (Evil Ink Records). The album was welcomed with fantastic reviews and praise from Stever's fans and others alike. Artist Direct gave it a 4.5/5 saying saying "Davenport Cabinet opens up with the kind of honesty rarely seen in today's musical landscape." The album is a massive mix of alternative folk, indie rock, and classic rock flavors.
 
Having never played shows under the Davenport Cabinet moniker, Stever and Klose set out to find musicians to bring their vision to the stage. Tom Farkas was first to join on bass. Tom had previously made guest appearances playing bass and keys on Davenport songs, and is very familiar with performing. As bassist in New Jersey post-hardcore/metal band Nolan Gate for many years, he has shared the stage with a plethora of bands, including Kylessa and Fu Manchu. Next to join was drummer Michael Robert Hickey. Stever had seen Hickey play with his band, Pictures in Braille, as well as local singer-songwriter Elissa Jones, and was impressed. Hickey is an accomplished musician and has shared the stage with bands such as The Dear Hunter and the Ataris. His style and personality were a perfect fit for the Cabinet.
 
In May, 2013 they played their first show in Warwick, NY at the Tuscan Cafe. The show generated great excitement and created the desire and demand for continuing the live performance aspect of the project. Since then, the band has been steadily playing gigs in a variety of areas. While rehearsing for shows, the band began writing new collaborative material and soon completed an EP titled, "Risks in Magic". The EP was released digitally and soon reached Number 25 on iTunes Singer-Songwriter charts, and received numerous rave reviews from critics and fans alike. The group shows no signs of slowing and are eager to bring their signature sound and spirit to stages everywhere.
