Disparition is the solo project of Jon Bernstein, a musician and composer based in Brooklyn, New York .
 My music combines a variety of electronic and industrial influences and techniques with interpretations of histories and geographies. I release standalone concept albums and also provide sound design and music for theater and film.
 
I started playing piano before I can remember, began experimenting with electronic music in college in the late 90's and started releasing my own music in 2004 with my first album Satellite State. Since then I've released several more albums - When Fourteen Suns (2005), Transmutations (2006), 1989 (2008), Neukrk (2011), Madoc (2013), Taran Wanderer (2013), and Muro e Parete (2013). 
 
I've been composing and doing sound design for theater since 2005. Recent NYC shows in include the opera WAKE (directed by Mei Ann Teo) and the play The Downtown Loop (directed by Meghan Finn). 
 
My music is also used in several independent films and used as the sountrack to the Welcome to Night Vale podcast. 
 
My next project is the full length album Granicha (May 23, 2014), a project featuring several talented vocalists and instrumentalists including Valerie Evering, Mari Yamamoto, Henny Hendrix, Oswald Starr, Marnie Breckenridge, Deepthi Welaratna, Cecil Baldwin, Gabriel Royal, and Tim Monaghan.
