BRIGHTER LATER is the project of Melbourne-based frontwoman/songwriter Jaye Kranz and her collaborator Virginia Bott. Their debut album The Wolves, released earlier this year, drew rapt praise here and overseas for its half-lit intimacy and “elegantly arranged universe” (Rolling Stone). The Music described their “subdued blend of lo-fi indie-folk and dream pop [as] nothing short of a masterpiece”. The Wolves was album of the week on Melbourne’s Triple R and PBS FM and is “still gaining momentum by the week like a boulder rolling down a hill” (Pigeons & Planes, USA). It caught the attention of Martha Wainwright who handpicked the band to support her on herAustralian tour; they played a special one-off show with Calexico (USA); and heir single “Come & Go’ was recently shortlisted for the prestigious Vanda & Young songwriting award.
