The way he greets her at the door
With a smile that she's seen before
He'd lose his mind if he thought
That she's not here to see him
In the bathroom up the stairs
Got her cornered, fixed her with that stare
Eyes drift and nostrils flare
But she's not here to see him
I guess you can't blame her when she lives so far away
Still you know the kind of thing that people will say
Out of town and out of reach
Too good for us it seems
The night moves on and we all go out
No one sure who she's thinking about
Even so he still follows her around
She's not here to see you
With these lights its hard to tell
If its her or if its someone else
So stay inside or you'll break the spell
She's not here to see you
I guess you can't blame her when she lives so far away
Still you know the kind of thing that people will say
Out of town and out of reach
Too good for us it seems
Always something on her mind
Or a distance in those eyes
Its always been this way
All that fresh air in those lungs
Makes for nights where no one has any fun
What a shame
Outside, she's on her own
What's she doing - nobody knows
I guess it all just goes to show
She's not here to see us
I go, I can see my chance
Won't you come in for a dance?
She smiles but she says 'no thanks'
Cos she's not here to see us
I guess you can't blame her when she lives so far away
Still you know the kind of thing that people will say
Out of town and out of reach
Too good for us it seems
